Swimmers still needing times for Saturday
Thanks for the fantastic turnout for our first ever Twilight Time Trial. Fabulous success! The weather was beautiful and we got about 80% of our swimmers timed on Saturday. Some of you have asked why we have a Time Trial and the answer is...because our League requires it. We are not allowed to use last years times or have any swimmers with no times at our meets. This is not a new rule, having been in place for at least three years.
From the NWAL Rulebook: "All entry lists and seeding cards shall have the fastest Official Times listed on them. An Official Time is one that was swum without disqualification at a meet which was sanctioned by the NWAL in the current season. Non-official times may be used for an event (or for a stroke on a relay) only when the swimmer has not established an Official Time in the current season. If a non-official time is used, it shall be established at a time trial. Split times are NOT Official Times. Official Times shall be used for all divisional meet entries, including relay entries. Entries submitted with no times (N/T) shall not be allowed."
Other reasons to get new times? Many of our swimmers are aging up to 50s for the first time AND we are now swimming in a meter pool so last year's times would all have to be converted.
Obviously, we need to time the rest of the swimmers this week at practice. With the weather looking bad for the rest of the week, this could be a problem.
If we get a clear day, swimmers can be timed each day until THURSDAY this week from 5:00 - 6:30 at Adamson. Please see Coach Taylor to have your child timed in their events for THIS WEEKEND. You won't be able to enter any events on the computer until you have a time from practice (Time Trials are good - you can go ahead and enter your events for the weekend. Instructions to follow)
If we get bad weather everyday, obviously we won't be able to time your swimmer this week. I have a call in to NWAL officials asking for a waiver to the rule this week because of the weather. I will let you all know as soon as I hear something.
