Time Trial Information

We hope everyone is enjoying the first week of practice. Our time trial is rapidly approaching, below is some important information about the meet this Saturday.
Date: Saturday, May 7
Location: Bryan Aquatic Center (3100 Oak Ridge Dr., Bryan, TX ("between" Super Wal Mart & Bryan High or Briarcrest Drive)
Time: 8AM meet start (Warm-ups will begin at 7:40am). The Bryan Aquatic Center will open around 7 am that morning for set up. There are some permanent shade structures that might be available to set up under, but many families or groups of families will bring tailgate style tents for sun protection, and pop-up chairs. Sunscreen, hats/visors, and sunglasses are advisable for all, as well as water/gatorade and snacks. The mock meet will probably last until around noon.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We are excited to run this time trial with Bryan, and thankful they are hosting us while construction finishes up at Adamson Lagoon . . . but we still need to supply parent volunteers. All parents are required to volunteer for at least 3 meets during the season. Volunteer sign ups can be found on the calendar on the website. There will be 2 volunteer shifts, and for each shift we need to provide: 8 timers, 1 runner, & 2 ready bench bosses! (That's 22 parents needed to run the meet.) If you are a certified official and want to help officiate a portion of the meet, please contact me directly for this meet.)
Meet Format: The time trial will run almost exactly like a regular dual meet, with a couple of exceptions. This will allow us to get 2016 times for all of our swimmers, and allow our new swimmers an opportunity to practice and have some experience with what the noise, excitement and energy of a real meet is like.
Exceptions:
1) No DQs. While we will have Stroke & Turn officials at the meet, no swimmers will be disqualified (DQ'd) during this meet. However, every effort will be made to let swimmers know if a violation was observed and how to correct it. Encourage any swimmers that are nervous or worried, all they have to do on Saturday is get to the other side of the pool and their time will count.
2) No Relays. Most of our age groups will not swim any relays this weekend. However, we may try to run a heat or two of 8 & Under relays for our youngest and newest swimmers to get a feel for how relays work before our first official meet.
You do not NEED a team suit for the time trial, or any meet, but just a reminder that Swim Shops of the Southwest will be at our practices tomorrow (thursday, may 5th) with team suits (and caps and goggles). I have added a page under the "Team" tab on the website (collegestation.swim-team.us) with some information about the team suit.
If you are still having trouble accessing the website, or have any additional questions for me, please do not hesitate to contact me, or any of the coaches! Go Tsunamis!
