COLS v. Navasota May 14, 2016!
Alright Tsunami Families . . . tomorrow morning is our first official meet of the 2016 season! We have had a great sign up and the coaches and I are super excited to see you all swim tomorrow! Below are some details about the meet.
- Warm-ups start at 7:15 am
- All swimmers must be checked in with a coach by 7:45 am, or risk being scratched from relays. Coaches will be at the entrance to the baby pool area for check in!
- We are using the area around the baby pool as our Tsunami team set up area. We are encouraging all families and swimmers to set up in this area as a team. This will allow us all to get to know one another, and also help facilitate keeping track of, finding and getting all swimmers to the ready bench on time. However, you are free to set up in any of the open set up areas on the map.
- You may set up on the pool deck area; but the City will not allow any tents on the decking b/c they cannot be secured and present a hazard.
- Both the baby pool, and the main pool recreation side are STRICTLY OFF LIMITS during the meet.
- Concessions will be open
- Heat sheets will be available to purchase for $3; however, the same information is available for free on your mobile device via Meet Vision. (Instructions are attached and in the links section of the home page)
- Be sure to check either the website, meet vision or a heat sheet to see if you swimmer(s) are entered in any relays. We have put together as many relays as possible based on available swimmers.
- Do not be surprised or alarmed if there are slight variations in the lanes and/or relay teams during the actual meet. This often happens. Please try not to be too upset either, most of these swimmers are young, and so as parents we all know anything can happen.
- DQs (disqualifications) are one of those things that happen. Please encourage your swimmers that this happens to EVERYONE at some point. I guarantee both Michael Phelps and Missy Franklin (and every other swimmer who will compete at Rio this summer) has had at least one DQ in their career. It is a learning process, and can ultimately help your swimmer improve.
- Bring: Shade, sunscreen, caps, goggles, sunscreen, snacks (if you don't want to buy from concessions--coolers are allowed), activities for swimmers between races, and SUNSCREEN!
- team caps should be available before the next meet (included with your swimmer's registration)
- If you have not picked up your team shirt, it will be available tomorrow at the meet. (included with swimmer's registration)
Thank you for all your efforts in getting your swimmer(s) to practice, and getting them signed up for the meet and signing up to volunteer. We still need second shift timers. Also, if you are signed up to work first shift and have older swimmers, or any swimmers in a free relay (the last events), and you are willing to work second shift, please let me know I have some parents with young swimmers who will be finished competing after first shift who are willing to work first shift.
You guys are awesome! This is going to be a great season! Please contact me if you have any questions! See you at the pool!
