Lee County Meet (May 21) Entries

Thank you all so much for what I thought was great first meet yesterday!  Thank you to all the parents who worked at the meet.  A very special thank you to so many parents that ended up working the whole meet.

Also, thank you to Vera (CS Aquatics Director), her pool staff & lifeguards, and our coaches who show up at Adamson Lagoon before 6AM to get the tents set up, put lane lines in (manage wasps & hornets), set up the ready bench and keep our swimmers safe throughout the meet!  Without that team we would not have a CS swim team, or be able to have swim meets.

I am so proud of all of our swimmers!  I saw lots of great swims and personal bests . . . and also saw lots of first time swimmers participate in a relay, "dive" off of the intimidating blocks and generally do an inspiring job getting across the pool.  I loved seeing and hearing swimmers shouting (positively) for and encouraging their team meets.  I hope you all had fun!   Ribbons from the meet and personal best ribbons will all be available by Tuesday at practice, and in the future should be available on Monday!!

Meet entries are now open for next Saturday's meet again Lee County.  The meet is at Adamson Lagoon again, but Lee County is actually the home team.

    • Swimmers can enter up to THREE individual events, and possibly be entered in relays.
    • Swimmers who want to swim in this meet, MUST be entered in individual events by midnight on Wednesday.  (There is a link on the home page for entering swimmers into events.  If you are still having trouble with that please let em know!
    • ONLY swimmers with at least one individual event entry by midnight on Wednesday will be put in relays
    • ALSO, please RSVP for the meet either YES, or NO by Wednesday at midnight.  This is separate and different from entering events, but it helps to ensure we have a smooth and efficient meet.
      • A yes RSVP does not enter your swimmer in events.  If you RSVP yes but do not enter events I do my best to catch that and get your swimmer entered.
      • If you RSVP "no" that helps a lot.
      • Last week I emailed and texted all swimmers with "no response" on he RSVP.  From this week forward I will interpret "no response" on Thursday with no meet entries to be a "NO" and your swimmers will NOT be able to swim at the meet this weekend.

On Thursday we "merge" our meet entries with the other team, and then Lee County will take over and I will NOT be able to enter any additional swimmers.  THERE WILL BE NO--AS IN ZERO--DECK ENTRIES.  Deck entries slow down the meet, and cause confusion for ready bench, swimmers and timers.  Swimmers with meet entries are not scratched from individual events until their heat has swum.  So, if you are uncertain abut your availability it is better to enter, and then we can do scratches either saturday morning and/or swim empty lanes.  Please confirm your entries Thursday morning on the website, and again on Friday after the meet is merged to prevent a disappointed kiddo being unable to swim on Saturday.

Getting through a swim meet involves lots of moving parts (swimmers, ready bench, timers, computer entry, Stroke & Turn officials and DQs), a snag in any one spot can cause a ripple effect of unintended consequences, and will slow down the meet for everyone.  Yesterday we had two swimmers who almost ended up without times, one of whom actually won their event.  By following the guidelines above, it gives us the best foundation to prevent errors and mistakes like that!

If you still have questions about entering your swimmer for the meet, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I am more than willing to help.  I will even enter your swimmers, but you MUST EMAIL (so it is in writing) me BEFORE 5 PM on Wednesday.  Coaches, and other parents can help as well!  (Melissa Daigneault, [email protected])

Remember to sign up for volunteer positions for this weekend as well!  Because we are not technically the home team this week, we do not need as many volunteers, but we still need volunteers to make the meet run smoothly!  I know everyone who is able will step up to support our swimmers!

Practice moves back to Adamson Lagoon starting tomorrow, and through the rest of the season!!  We look forward to seeing your swimmers at practice tomorrow, and continuing the success of the first meet!!
