Brenahm Meet Entry Deadline Approaching
Tonight at midnight is the last chance you have to enter your swimmers in the meet for this weekend. Please make sure you get them entered. If you will not be available this weekend, please RSVP No; it helps to make sure no one is left out of the meet.
We still NEED the following volunteer positions covered:
- Head Timer (both shifts)--you do not need experience to do this, as long as you have two thumbs, you can handle this, I promise.
- Heat Ribbons (both shifts)--this is a very easy, and pretty rewarding. you get to hand out ribbons to the youngest swimmers and make their day! This is a great job!
- Runner (both shifts)--Collect timer sheets from timers and deliver them to computer office. You get first view of official times and therefore race results, plus a little exercise. Wear your fitbit! (Also, I'm not planning to cut the timer sheets in half this week, so you will only have to walk sheets every TWO events)
- Awards/Ribbons--you get a shady spot (the computer room), and you get to see everyone's results and put stickers on the backs of ribbons. You can even take your kiddos ribbons home on Saturday and not make them wait until Monday. This job is second shift only, but you can pop out as often you need/want to watch your kids swim. At the end of the meet we need to have Brenham's ribbons ready for them, you can even finish sticking and sorting the CS ribbons at home in the A/C, as long as you bring the ribbon box back to Adamson by Monday at 4:30 pm.
- Ready Bench--we need at least one more parent to sign up for ready bench for second session. this is really the best way to get to know your kids team mates, and a great opportunity to encourage them before they swim.
- Clean-up Crew--if you are not able to work during the meet, which I know can be a challenge in some situations, you can help clean up and tear down after the meet. This is a great way to be available for your swimmer during the meet, AND support the team!
- Timers--we still need 9 (NINE) timers for second shift. No experience required, free training provided--add a skill set to your linked-in profile! :)
When I used to teach at Texas A&M I told my senior students we had two options for participation grades, the easy way and the hard way. In 9 semesters, those seniors never once made me go down the path of the hard way . . . I have every confidence you guys will step up and commit to meet our volunteer needs in the next 24 hours so that we can get the meet merged with Brenham and bring home another victory, and we don't have to discuss "the hard way." We literally cannot run a meet without parent participation!
Special and sincere thanks to those families who have served more than 3 shifts already and those who are already signed up for this weekend!!
Get yourselves and your kiddos signed up, and we will see you this weekend for a GREAT meet!
P.S. Meet entries will not be opened for the remaining meets until all volunteer spots are filled!! Volunteer spots are open and unlocked for the last two dual meets, so you can sign up today! Divisionals volunteer spots will be opened as soon we get word from the host team on what they need from each team!
