Volunteers
Hey Parents!
We are getting very close to filling all of our volunteer positions for this weekend, thank you, thank you, thank you! Your swimmers, the coaches and I are so appreciative of those of you who have served every single meet, sometimes both shifts. Those of you who sign up to help the team before I even have to ask. Your service does not go unnoticed.
If you have not signed up to volunteer at a meet, or all of your shifts yet, please sign up. If you are nervous about your responsibilities, or what you need to do, email me or call me I will walk you through your job. I can even be at any practice time on Friday and walk you through the specifics of your job. I promise you can do any of the jobs on our list, and still watch your swimmer.
The reality is, we need your help to run/host our meets. It matters not how much the same 12-15 parents want to show up and work, we NEED MORE than 15 parents to run a meet. With a very heavy heart, I will now outline the "hard way" for volunteer commitments. Unless, all volunteer positions are filled by 8 pm this evening, I will personally enter all eligible swimmers for the meet. Eligible swimmers are those whose families have either already volunteered for three shifts, or whose families are signed up to volunteer this weekend. Swimmers whose families have NOT already completed three shifts, and/or are not signed up to volunteer this weekend will not be eligible to swim in this weekend. (The same eligibility policy will be maintained for next weekend, divisionals and invitationals. We do have volunteer requirements we must fill as a team at both divisionals and invitationals.)
I know that volunteering is challenging for some families for a variety of reasons. Opportunities to participate as an age group parent outside of meet hours were made available earlier in the season. There are also a variety of different types of jobs available with different levels of commitment and physically activity during the meet. I've sent job descriptions and made sure volunteer sign ups were open. I've given you all my contact information. I've asked and reminded; and we've made phone calls. I'm so sad that we find ourselves in this position.
Let's get the volunteer jobs fulfilled by the end of the day, and put this whole "hard way" behind us . . . never to be seen again, and lets finish this season strong and with respect and appreciate for all of the families on the team!
