Tsunami Odds & Ends
June 17th
A few odds & ends as we wrap up the NWAL season.
- Practice for next week, June 20-24 will continue at the same times as they have been, both AM and PM make-ups
- Tuesday, June 21 the City's marketing department will be at the pool during practice to take pictures of our divisionals swimmers with their ribbons and medals. We will therefore hold medals & ribbons from Divisionals to be distributed on Tuesday morning during practice, so swimmers do not forget to bring them back. I will let you know what time next week, but we want to celebrate our swimmers and publicize their great work . . . and help our swim team grow and gain momentum for next season!
- Friday, June 24 at Adamson Lagoon from 9 - 9:30 am, the city is taking part in the "World's Largest Swimming Lesson" event. We would like to see as many of our swimmers at the pool as possible during that time for practice, which is will be part of the event. Parents will need to be present to sign a form that morning confirming that your swimmer(s) participated--for an accurate count of the number of participants.
- No prior registration is necessary
- The forms will be provided Friday morning
- Morning practices from June 27 - July will likely be condensed based on the number of swimmers we have wishing to continue to participate in practice and TAAF season.
- TAAF season is a great way to continue competing, have fun, and stay in shape.
- TAAF is open to all Tsunami swimmers at no additional charge; however, there are eligibility requirements meant to make sure TAAF is truly only for recreational swimmers.
- Generally, swimmers under the age of 13 who have participated in any organized swimmer practices, or any USASwimming meets (Ags meets) since January 16, 2016 are NOT eligible to participate in TAAF.
- Tsunami Parents--YOU are eligible to participate in TAAF. This is true, even if you have been practicing more than 90 minutes a week, or have been swimming in USA Swimming meets, or masters meets. We have had parents not only qualify for and swim in the state meet, we have parents who have actually qualified for the National meet.
- Pam Criscitiello has been begging me to swim at TAAF--despite the fact that I am not sure I can swim a 25 anymore, much less a 50--for 3 seasons. If we have 25 or more swimmers (parents and kids) who RSVP yes to participate in the TAAF regional meet, I will participate too! (But, you have to all promise you will cheer me on like you do our brand new swimmers!!
) - If you and/or your swimmer(s) are planning to participate in TAAF, please RSVP by Friday June 24, 2016 so that practices can be planned accordingly.
- There is more information about TAAF available under the links section of the website, meet dates are on the calendar, and more information will be sent out to those participating after invitationals!
We look forward to closing out the NWAL season and a great TAAF season as well!
