Updates for the first week and Mock Trial Meet

    Howdy Tsunami Swim Team Parents!

    There have been a few questions regarding the practice schedule. Our current practice schedule is as follows;

    • Green (Beginners)--first time competitive swimmers completely new to swim team and competitive swimming, and all swimmers 6 and under
    • Blue (Novice)--Swimmers who have experience, albeit limited, with competitive swimming, can swim freestyle and backstroke legally, and have a fundamental understanding of butterfly and breastroke, even if not yet proficient at one or both.
    • Aqua (Intermediate)--Swimmers are comfortable with competitive swimming and swim meets, have at least 2 silver times during the 2015 season, and have a strong understanding of butterfly and breastroke.
    • Navy (Advanced)-- Legal in all 4 strokes/experienced competitor

AFTER-SCHOOL PRACTICES BEGIN MAY 1 AND GO THROUGH MAY 25.  These practices are daily Monday - Thursday at Adamson Lagoon.

    • 4:30 - 5:00 pm  Green
    • 5:00 - 5:45 pm  7-10 Green/Blue/Aqua
    • 6:00 - 6:45 pm  Green/Blue/Aqua
    • 6:30 - 7:30 pm Navy

As for our Mock Trial Meet, the Bryan Aquatic Center is undergoing maintenance currently, so this Saturday’s Mock Trial Meet will be hosted at our home pool at Adamson Lagoon! Below are a few updates for the Mock Trial Meet and our first week of practices.

    1. Warm-ups will begin at 7:30, we are asking all parents and swimmers to arrive at the pool 10-15 minutes earlier than this so that their swimmers can get changed and in the water by 7:30. The meet will start at 8:00.
    2. Please enter your swimmers into as many events as they are comfortable swimming at our Mock Trial Meet. Every swimmer needs a “seed time” in order to be entered in those events in every meet following the Mock Trial Meet.
    3. The Mock Trial Meet entries will stay open for the entire summer, meaning if your swimmer is unable or uncomfortable swimming certain events at the first Mock Trial Meet, we will be able to run those events in practice over the course of the season, allowing them to swim those events at meets in the future
    4. It is very important to pack a supply of water and snacks for all of our swimmers!!
    5. This meet is a great experience for our whole team, but especially our newest and youngest swimmers! Saturday morning will give everyone some experience in volunteering, swimming every event, and getting used to the atmosphere of a swim meet!
    6. Volunteering is set up for all of our meets for the year! We are asking that each parent volunteers at least 3 times throughout the season. You can start with the Mock Trial Meet taking place this Saturday where we will need upwards of 50 volunteers! You can register for volunteering on our website by clicking the box with the letter “V” in it on the front page or located on the team’s calendar.
    7. Due to the colder pool temperatures associated with the beginning of the season, we may be getting our swimmers out of the water a few minutes early at practice this week if they are feeling too cold.
    8. Another shipment of team suits has been ordered, so if your swimmer does not yet have their team suit they are ok! We will be handing out suits today May 1st before practices at Adamson Lagoon and we will be receiving our next shipment before our Mock Trial Meet on Saturday.

We are so excited to get started at practice this week and to see you all Saturday morning! If you have any questions or concerns you can reach me at [email protected].

    Thank you!
