    2017 Season!

    Howdy Tsunamis!

It is great to see so many of you back this year, and many new faces!  We have nearly 175 swimmers currently registered for our team . . . that is awesome!  We have new and returning coaches who are doing a great job getting our swimmers ready for the season.  We are going to have a FANTASTIC 2017 Tsunami Season!!

One very important part of a successful Tsunami season is parent participation, particularly at the swim meets.  To run a swim meet takes about 80 adult volunteers (40 each session) officials, timers, ready bench, computer personnel!  We the meet is hosted by our team we have to provide 20-30 volunteers per session. When we are the away team we have to provide about 10-15 per session, depending on the number lanes at the pool.  Usually our dual meets run between 2 and 4 hours, so each shift is around 1.5 hours.  Most of the volunteer positions provide front row seats to the swimming action!

This means we need every FAMILY (not per swimmer) to VOLUNTEER for at least THREE sessions per season . . . plus at least one session at divisionals!  We already have almost all of the volunteer spots filled for this weekend, and close to half of them filled for next weekend!  GREAT JOB!!  All of the volunteer spots for the season are open for the season except divisionals (which we will get more volunteer info on later in the season), and you can go ahead and sign up for meets and times you know you will be available!

To help continue the momentum we currently have, and make sure our meets run smoothly, we need a few parents to step up  into meet operations roles.  These roles do not create an obligation on the part of the volunteers to work in the respective role at every meet.  Rather the goal is to spread the knowledge of a few key meet operations roles, and share the responsibility to make sure we have smooth meets week after week, season after season even as families travel or are out sick.  Ideally we would have 2-3 parents trained in each of the following roles:

    • Volunteer Coordinator--having a basic understanding of an NWAL swim meet, and all volunteer positions
    • Head Timer
    • Ready Bench
    • Computer/Clerk of Course

If you are interested in one of these roles, please click on this link and sign up (there is more information about each role on the sign up):  www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C094DADAD23AAF49-tsunami1  I will be in touch with all of our volunteers. If you are interested in learning more about one of these, and the sign up spots are filled, just email me:  [email protected].

Don't forget to register for events for Time Trials this weekend by 2pm today!!

    See you at the POOL!
