Tsunami Team Update Week of June 5th
Howdy Tsunamis!
We are in the HOME stretch of our 2017 season! Can you believe it? We have a lot of swimming left to do though! Here is a look at what is coming up!
6-10-17: Tsunamis vs. Lee County - this meet is scheduled for 8am at Adamson Lagoon. Lee County is technically the "Home Team". They are, however, a pretty small team and additional volunteers would be appreciated to make this meet run smoothly. Look for a meet specific email later this week regarding warm-up times and meet reminders.
This meet is also your swimmers' LAST opportunity to get an NWAL dual time. Any swimmer planning to swim at Divisionals must have an NWAL time (as opposed to a time trial time) in order to swim. So if your child is planning on swimming the 50 Free at Divisionals they have to have participated in this event at one of the meets against another team. There is no time requirement to swim at Divisionals though.
Please sign up for this meet as soon as you are able. We have had many intermittent technical problems with the website this season. The sooner we are able to identify that there is a glitch causing an issue the better we are able to deal with it. If we wait until Friday morning we most likely won't be able to get your swimmer into an event even if it was an issue with the website that caused the problem in the first place. Katy will be available in the office at Adamson Lagoon during practice time in the mornings to help with any technical issues you may be having. If you only come to evening practice please report all technical issues to Coach Michelle no later than Wednesday evening so that we can get them addressed in a timely manner.
6-13-17: PPP Party - this is our pep-rally prior to Divisionals and will be held from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at Adamson Lagoon. This is really a great opportunity to hang out with all of our swim family NOT in a meet or practice environment. It's a great time to relax & have fun together!
6-17-17 Divisional Swim Meet - this meet will be held in Huntsville this year and warm-ups are currently scheduled for 7am. Again, in order to swim any event at this meet the swimmer must have swam this event at a regular season dual meet but the swimmer does NOT have to have a qualifying time. If you have any questions about this process please email one of the coaches. Divisionals will also be the swimmers FINAL opportunity to qualify for Trinity or Ponderosa - the Invitational meets held the weekend of June 24th.
I have posted some documents to the website:
The Divisional report (attached) is a list of swimmers who have already participated in events (including which ones) at an NWAL Dual meet. You can use this report to help you choose events for this weekend. Remember, if your swimmer has NOT achieved a recorded time at a dual meet they cannot swim that event at Divisionals. No qualifying times are required.
The lists of Ponderosa and Trinity Qualifiers (both attached) as of today have also been uploaded as well as links to 2017 qualifying times and invitations for both of these meets.
Please take a moment to go over to the website to review these documents and let one of the coaches know if you have any questions.
A few reminders:
All swimmers should have water at practice. It is hot - please stay hydrated.
Apply sunscreen early & often. Coat those kiddos 30 min to an hour before they get in and ALL DAY LONG at those swim meets.
As always - please let me or one of the other coaches know if you have any questions.
Swim Fast Tsunamis!
