Tsunami Updates 6/2/24
Howdy Tsunami Families!
Please read all of these week's updates all the way through.
Pentathlon Swim Meet
The Pentathlon Swim Meet will be June 9th at Klein Collins High School. I am attaching the Meet Invitation for your review.

Swimmers competing in this meet will swim ALL events. They must have at least a Time Trial time to be able to compete in this meet. Any entries submitted without all the required times will be deleted after the entry deadline has passed.
Please review the cumulative time requirement for these events included in the meet invitation as well. I will be checking those numbers to make sure all entered swimmers DO qualify. Swimmers who do not qualify based on time will also be deleted from the entry list prior to submitting.
Entries are due before midnight tomorrow! Reminder, swimmer entries will cost an additional $41.62. Fees will be invoiced after entries close.
Lee County Swim Meet
The meet against Lee County is June 8th here at Adamson Lagoon. Entries are OPEN and will close Thursday 6/6 at noon. Please be sure to mark your swimmer appropriately for all relays.

Way to SWIM Tsunamis! I also think that all the swimmers that hung around to watch Coach Mac & the women's relay swim in the final relay of the meet really enjoyed being able to see that! It's SO fun for our younger swimmers to get the opportunity to see the more experienced swimmers compete. Be sure your swimmer isn't missing out on these chances to watch & learn during our meets!
Divisional Swim Meet
The Divisional Championship Swim Meet will be at the Bryan Aquatic Center on June 15th. All swimmers must have participated in at least 2 swim meets AND have a legal time in any event they would like to swim to be able to participate in the Divisional Swim Meet. All entries will be the same; max of 3 individual and 2 relays for each swimmer. Each team will only have ONE relay team in each category, but we do have additional mixed relays available (boys & girls combined) which will allow us to have more relays available than usual.
We have about 20 swimmers who just need to compete in one more meet to be able to swim at the Divisional Meet. We have 126 swimmers who are already eligible! It would be GREAT to have a lot of swimmers at this meet! If we place in the top 3 teams there will be a TROPHY! Your Coaches would love for our team to get that 1st place trophy - Tsunamis haven't earned the first place trophy since 2017. I think we could really do it this year! If everyone who can participate shows up!
Practice
We have made it through the first full week of our Summer Practice schedule. As usually happens our 9-12 year old practice groups are very large. Morning practices do have MUCH more space to them. If you are able to attend the morning practice group I would encourage you to do so.
I've had a few parents asking if their swimmer can attend a practice time that is different from their child's (or children's) age group. We can really only allow this (especially if the group they are wanting to attend is the 9-12 group) under extenuating circumstances. If your swimmer absolutely cannot make it at their appropriate time then we will do our best to make sure they can get in for practice.
Please remember that the age groups practice for an appropriate amount of time for THAT age group. It is not appropriate for children under 12 to practice for 1.5 hours. This will mean a coach needs to be dedicated to those younger swimmers so they can get out of the water on time. If you have a young & novice swimmer, they will likely be very overwhelmed trying to swim with the older age groups as well. This can create a negative experience that we do not want for the swimmer.
Please be sure to have your swimmers check in for each practice. There is one Coach who will have the swimmer check in at each practice. Swimmers need to check in & grab their equipment before heading to their lane. Sometimes lane assignments change during the season as the swimmers' abilities change. It's important that they verify their lane before heading to practice.
It's hard to believe that our NWAL season only has a few weeks left of swim meets. I will begin sending Invitational Meet reminders to those who qualify today. Remember the invitational meets DO have an additional fee. Invitational Meets are a GREAT opportunity to see our swimmers swim really fast & get to participate in meets that include fast swimmers from all over the NW Aquatic League. It's quite an accomplishment for swimmers to be invited to these meets!
Masters Swim
We would still love for any parent (or other adult over 18) to join us for our Master's Swim practice. You can find the sign up here: https://rectrac.cstx.gov/wbwsc/webtrac.wsc/iteminf...
We have a good group of swimmers with a wide variety of abilities. One of our Coaches will be on deck to coach the practice. Join us & spread the word!
TAAF Season
After NWAL Season we move straight into TAAF Season. Swim doesn't end at the end of June. We will be in the pool practicing until July 24th and we will have 1 more local meet at Bryan for the TAAF season in July as well!
As always, if you have any questions please let me know! See you at the pool!
Coach Michelle
