    Tsunami Updates 4/12/24

    Howdy Tsunami Families!

Just some quick updates & reminders for you this week... Please read the whole thing, even if some of these are just reminders for you.

    Meet the Coaches / Evaluations

Meet the Coaches & Evaluations will be held the week of April 22nd. Please be sure to sign up using the link on our website (https://collegestation.swimtopia.com/swim_meets)

Please remember there is only one swimmer per slot; if you have multiple swimmers please either select that many slots or give them each their own slot. You can do that either way but all swimmers will need an evaluation. This is also when swimmers will pick up their team shirts.

    Time Trial Swim Meet

Entries for the Time Trial Meet are OPEN as well. Please RSVP your swimmer as ATTENDING and select their events if they will be at that meet on May 4th. You will also RSVP for that on the website at https://collegestation.swimtopia.com/swim_meets

Please be sure to select ALL events your swimmer is willing to swim that day. It does not matter if they will not be legal, they just need to get a time for ANY event they may want to swim at a meet during the season. NWAL does not allow swimmers to compete with a "NT" or no time.

Volunteer Jobs are also open for this meet so please select a place where you feel comfortable helping out with our meet that day.

If you will be out of town on May 4th your swimmer may also get their Time Trial times during their evaluation. Please be sure to let the person checking you in during evaluations know that your swimmer will need to get their Time Trial times.

    Official Certification

We NEED Officials. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider helping in this area. Sign up at www.nwalcertified.com to help with Computers, Clerk of Course (these classes are online) or Stroke & Turn Official (this class is in person, but we are hosting one at our pool 4/27).

You can go to www.NWAL.org to review the Rule Book which has all official descriptions. Or you can reach out to me & I will tell you ALL the things about these volunteer positions.

    Schedule Updates

We have an official date for Region 5 TAAF Swim Meet! It is updated on our schedule & already open for you to mark your swimmer as "attending". I will load events at a later date. You can also indicate your interest in the State TAAF Swim Meet. Remember, adults who have registered for our Master's Swim program will have the opportunity to participate in the TAAF meets as well.

    Team Photos

You can RSVP for Individual and Team Photos on our website at https://collegestation.swimtopia.com/swim_meets. Memoir Photography will be at the pool to take these photos.

All instructions should be included in the Registration link, but if you have questions just let me know.

Age Groups / Practice Times / Team Registrations

I've noticed that a small number of swimmers have had some challenges getting registered or getting registered in the correct age group. I think we have this fixed. If the system forced your swimmer into the wrong age group it is OK. When I move the swimmers into our system (Swimtopia) it corrects that automatically.

Please note; the age your swimmer is on May 1, 2024 is the age group your swimmer will swim in (both practice and compete) ALL SEASON. This is called an "age up" date and is used in sports like swimming to keep things consistent for the athletes.

Team Registrations are getting pretty full, as we do every year. This year we've decided to complete the practice preference after swimmers have signed up (instead of having a large volume of different sections for registration). I will have that form ready to send out by April 15th. It will only be sent to swimmers that have already registered and ALL swimmers will need to select their preferred practice days. There will be overflow options offered for the 9-12 year old section as well, that one always fills up. Last year our 9-12 year old swimmers accounted for HALF of our team.

As always, if you have any questions please be sure to let me know! We are getting excited for a great season! If you are new & haven't checked out the FAQ section on our website I highly encourage it. It is also updated from time to time; if I get a question from one person, it's likely someone else has the same question. https://collegestation.swimtopia.com/frequently-as...

    See you at the pool!
