Tsunami Mid Week Update 6/7/23
Howdy Tsunami Swimmers!
Here are your mid-week updates for this week...
Practice
I think we have a solution for our over-crowding during the 9-12 year old practice in the evenings. We've had quite a few families step up & offer to bring their 9/10 year old swimmers to the 7pm practice (instead of the 7:45pm practice). This has created the space we needed SO much. We are trying to keep some integrity in the training groups so this is option is specifically for the 9/10 age group. If you have told me that you will be sending your 9/10 swimmer at 7pm instead of 7:45pm please keep doing so. I will not be able to keep track of swimmers wanting to do some nights at 7pm & some at 7:45pm - so switching back & forth is NOT an option. Please stay with the time you committed to. This should make it so we do NOT have to worry about the sign up though! YAY! Please continue to be patient with us as we transition & try to make it so ALL swimmers can practice.
Reminder, bringing questions (not related to the practice) to the Coaching staff while we are on deck is taking us away from our job - Coaching YOUR swimmers. Please try not to just drop requests on the Coaches during practice. Email those to me - in a timely manner. I am not at my computer or replying to emails ALL day long. If you have a request please make sure you are sending that to me in plenty of time to manage it. I try NOT to respond to emails on the deck (practice or meets) and I try very hard to take 1 day off per week. So again, please be sure to get those requests to me via email in time for me to actually manage them.
Parents, please refrain from taking pictures or video during practice. There are other children in the pool and their parents may not want them to be in those pictures/videos. Please be respectful of this rule.
Parents, please stay back from the pool (unless medically necessary) and allow the Coaches to Coach the swimmers. ALL of your Coaching staff are experienced swimmers and Coaches. We have all been certified by the North West Aquatic League. It can be confusing and distracting to have a parent issuing instructions while we are trying to coach as well. That being said, our Coaching staff is pretty tired right now and we often will not have a full staff of Coaches on the deck for some practices (3). Please remind your swimmers to be respectful of each other and come ready to pay attention & follow instructions. If there are over 40 swimmers in the pool and only 2 Coaches on the deck practice is challenging enough just trying to make sure each group gets the attention they need.
Dual Meet against Lee County Saturday 6/10 (Adamson Lagoon)
Entries are due by 11:59pm TONIGHT! I do not close entries until I can get to my computer but it is always safest to get those entries in early!
We still have plenty of Volunteer Jobs that need to be filled as well.
If you signed up for Hospitality items those need to be at my office no later than Evening Practice on Thursday. We cannot manage those the morning of the Swim Meet.
Here is a reminder of our Home Meet schedule:
6:45am - 7:15am Tsunami Check In
7:15am -7:45am Tsunami Team Warm Up
7:45am - 8:15am Visiting Team Warm Up
8:15am Pool Cleared for Meetings / National Anthem
8:30am Event #1
I will not have a timeline for the meet until the Meet Exchange (merge) on Thursday at 6pm. Lee County is a smaller team though.
This is our FINAL Dual Meet of the season and our FINAL Home Meet of the Summer.
If your swimmer has not been able to attend any Dual Meets this season their next meet opportunity will be July 8th at the Region 5 TAAF Swim Meet in Bryan. (More info coming on that soon.)
If you have any questions please let me know! See you at the pool!
Coach Michelle
