    Tsunami Updates 6/5/23

    Howdy Tsunami Swim Families!

Well it's hard to believe but... This weekend is our FINAL Dual meet of the NWAL Season! And our last Home meet of the entire Summer! Wow! There is so much information in this email. Please be sure to read the whole thing!

    Lee County Meet Saturday 6/10

Please get your swimmer entries completed by Wednesday 6/7 at 11:59pm. I will not close entries until I can get to the office on Thursday but I must close the meet & run relays as soon as I arrive so I can notify swimmers and merge the meet with Lee County by 6pm on Thursday.

Also be sure to mark your swimmer appropriately if they are available for relays Saturday.

While you are signing your swimmer up please be sure to sign up for a Volunteer Job as well!

This meet is your swimmer's FINAL chance to get their required "splash" count for the Divisional Meet. The Divisional Meet is all swimmers' final chance to qualify for Invitational Meets.

    Divisional Meet

We currently have 126 Athletes who have qualified for the Divisional Swim Meet. But, we only have 15 who have indicated that they are attending the Divisional Swim Meet. I know it is early, but attending these away meets really does help our team. Our attendance at the Divisional Meet will affect how we place in our division - those trophies your swimmers see in my office. If we don't show up for these meets as a team we do not score well as a team. Perfect example is the meet this past weekend in Brenham. Our swimmers had some AMAZING swims. Our team still lost the meet because we only had 73 swimmers (out of 220+) attend the meet.

Please make an effort to attend the Divisional Swim Meet if you can!

Volunteer Jobs will open for this meet in the next week.

    Invitational Swim Meets

Many of our swimmers have qualified for Invitational Swim Meets! Many of them got their times at the meet in Brenham!

I have attached the current list of Invitational Qualifiers to this email. Please review the Meet Invitations for these meets. You can find them either on the event on our website, linked on www.nwal.org or on their individual websites.

https://trinitysummerclassic.swimtopia.com/ (I haven't seen updates to this website yet this year, hopefully they will do that soon.)

Not all swimmers achieve these invitational times. It's something to be very proud of. I would really encourage you to help your swimmer experience these BIG meets if you are able.

If you do choose to register your swimmer for these meets please note there is an additional cost for these entries.

    Pep Rally

We will have a Pep Rally at the Pool before the Divisional Swim Meet. There is an RSVP / Sign Up for this on the website. I may adjust amounts of items needed based on how many swimmers RSVP. Help us celebrate our swimmers heading to the Divisional Meet!

June is going to FLY by with all of these fun things going on!

    TAAF Season

As soon as our NWAL Season is complete we will enter our TAAF Season. The TAAF Region 5 Swim Meet will be held at the Bryan Aquatic Center on July 8th. This meet is open to ALL Tsunami Swimmers, no qualifying times needed.

The top 3 in each event at the Region 5 Meet will get an invitation to the State Meet in Brownsville TX July 27-30. We are trying to get an idea of those interested in attending this meet so please use the RSVP on the website if you are interested in attending the State Meet in Brownsville if your swimmer qualifies.

Entries for the Region 5 TAAF Swim Meet will open at the end of June.

    Weather Updates

We have been in & out of Weather Alerts all day long. Please remember to use the link on our website that will let you know if we are out due to weather. No system is perfect (sometimes we may have to close due to visibility with the rain even if there is no lightning) & I will do my best to also communicate with you regarding our status of our practices as well.

    Practice Capacity

An email was sent last week to families of 9-12 year old swimmers regarding practice capacity. Especially as we go into some weeks where we will only have a couple coaches on deck keeping our swimmer capacity appropriate is very important.

The spaces filled up VERY quickly for the evening practice. We only have 4 lanes that we can use for the 9-12 year old group, the other 3 we need to leave for the 13-18 year old group who practices as the same time.

If you signed your swimmer up for an evening time slot & find you do not need it anymore please be sure to remove your swimmer from that time slot so that another swimmer can use it if they need to.

As always, we will do our best to get all swimmers in the water when they come to practice. We just need to make sure it is safe & not over crowded. We will first make sure those who signed up have a spot.

If you have any questions please be sure to ask!

    See you at the Pool!
