Tsunami Updates 5/17/23
Howdy Tsunami Families!
Important Updates today... Please read on!
Bryan Swim Meet
We have made the decision to officially call the Bryan meet a "draw". We evaluated a LOT of options to get the rest of the times, but in the end we really need to move on so swimmers from BOTH teams are able to prepare for their swim meets this weekend. Neither team has really been able to have practice yet this week so it is very important that we can get back on schedule for everyone.
There were lots of questions about "Splashes" and Swimmer Times at the Bryan Meet last night. Here is the definition of a Splash from the NWAL Rule Book:
In order to participate in Divisionals, swimmers must participate in 2 NWAL Certified Dual Meets. Participation is defined as a swimmer entering the water in an NWAL event with or without disqualification otherwise known as a splash.
So many questions can often be answered by reviewing this rule book. You can always find the link on our website or here: https://swimtopia.s3.amazonaws.com/2497/snippet_fi...
Bryan is currently working to make sure the times that have been entered are as accurate as possible (as you can imagine, the computer entry people had an "interesting" time last night with all the changes). Rest assured, the times the swimmers were able to complete should count for the swimmer, the meet score just will not count for our teams.
Huntsville Swim Meet
Our meet against Huntsville is THIS weekend, May 20th, at Adamson Lagoon! Please get your entries submitted by 11:59pm tonight. I close these entries by hand, and with my regular work schedule it is difficult to predict exactly what time that will be. If you get those entries in by 11:59pm on the Wednesday before the swim meet you will always have your entries in on time.
Please remember to make sure to mark your swimmer accordingly if they are available for relays. The drop down box is below the individual entry selection.
You will also be prompted to sign up for Volunteer Jobs, please help us get these positions filled!
6:45am - 7:15am Tsunami Check In

7:45am - 8:15am Visiting Team Warm Up
8:15am Pool Cleared for Meetings

Time Trials / Evaluations
I know that I have some people coming in for Time Trials / Evaluations. Please continue to be prepared when your swimmer arrives and to be patient with your Coaching Staff. We still do not have enough Coaches and it can be difficult to ensure coverage for each of the groups in for Swim Practice AND to have a Coach leave practice to manage a single swimmer as they complete Time Trials / Evaluations. Most evenings we only have 3 Coaches on deck but some evenings it's only 2. On the evenings we only have 2 Coaches we cannot leave just 1 Coach running practice.
Practice
Practice is NORMAL tonight! The weather looks GREAT for practice.
I have had a lot of parents ask about "make up" practices. Just a reminder, we will do our best to get all swimmers who come to practice in the water to swim. I am sure there will be plenty the next couple of evenings. Priority will need to go to the swimmers who have registered for that section (either M/W or T/Th) and then we will allow others to practice as space is available.
As always, if you have any questions please let me know!
See you at the pool!
Coach Michelle
