Howdy Tsunamis!

WOW! We are just a few short weeks away from starting our season! You will start to get more regular emails from me now as we head into our season. Please make sure these emails are marked as "safe" and not spam or junk so you can keep up to date on all the Tsunami happenings!

Enrollment / Training Groups

Again - WOW! Team enrollment is currently at 186 swimmers! Our 9-12 year old sections are currently on a waitlist & we are working on getting swimmers from that waitlist placed in a section. 

If you are wondering what training group your swimmer is in you can now check that! When you log in to your Tsunamis account you will see your name at the top right with a down arrow. Hover over your name, click "My Account", you should see your family, swimmers and contact information come up. When you click on your swimmer it will show their age group, training group, AND you can even review times if your swimmer has been competing in meets! Pretty Cool! 

Evaluations / Meet the Coaches

Please get your swimmer signed up for Evaluations / Meet the Coaches. This is the time when we evaluate the swimmers to ensure they are swimming in the appropriate lane within their age group practice. The training groups are ALL age specific, but within each age group practice there will be different levels. We want the swimmers to be in the appropriate lane for their capabilities so we do evaluations each year. 

This is also the time where swimmers can use the suit sizing kits if they need to; to help when you order your suits (link is up on the website). 

Swimmers will get their shirts and caps. Parents will have the opportunity to ask their questions. New swimmers can learn their way around the pool. And everyone gets a chance to meet! 

Evaluations are also an opportunity for swimmers to get their time trial time if they are not able to attend the Time Trial meet.

Time Trial Meet

The Time Trial Meet entries and job sign ups are OPEN! Please log into the Tsunamis website and sign up!

Swimmers will need to compete in AS MANY EVENTS AS THEY ARE WILLING. 

Swimmers cannot compete in a Dual Swim Meet later in the season without a time trial time. I understand that you may be worried that your swimmer will be disqualified but there are NO official Disqualifications at Time Trials. Our Officials will be practicing at this meet, but DQs will not count. 

So please get your swimmer signed up for all events they are willing to try at that meet. And parents please sign up to volunteer. 

Officials

We NEED officials! Please sign up at www.nwalcertified.com and register to be an official. If you have questions about what the officials do you can find all of the information in the NWAL Rule Book. Officials handle the management of our meet performing duties of; Computers, Ready Bench (clerk of course), Team Representative, Stroke & Turn Official, Starter and Meet Referee. We need so many people to help a meet run smoothly. Please help out if you are able. 

Master's

Have you ever wanted to participate in swim practice or join a swim team just like your Tsunami Swimmer? Have you ever thought, "Wow, that looks easy. I don't know why my kid is so hungry, tired, etc." Well, here's your opportunity! Sign up for the Master's Swim NOW OPEN on the City of College Station Parks website! We are excited to get to coach some adults this year too! If you're wondering if there are any meet opportunities - YES, there are! The Region TAAF Swim Meet will be held in Bryan this summer and our Adult Swimmers will be ready to compete! Here's your chance to show your kid how AWESOME you are! DO IT! You'll be glad you did! 

Questions? You know I will do my best to answer them. I am not constantly in front of my email - and that will be true all summer as I will also be spending time coaching. Please be patient & know that it may take me some time to reply to all the emails but I will be working through them. One really helpful thing is our website. If you haven't taken some time to really go through all of the information on our website please do. There are schedules (meet, practice and season schedules), frequently asked questions, new parent info, volunteer job descriptions and so much more. You can even scroll through older emails (news posts). Our website is very helpful.
