    Monday 5/16 Team Updates

    Howdy Tsunami Families!

Welcome to Week 3 of our NWAL Season!

COLS vs NAV (forfeit) meet results

I am attaching the Meet Results to this email.

Congratulations to the following swimmers for being our High Point Swimmers of the Meet with 21 points each!

    Ella Coker

    Mackenzie O'Donnell

    Vicky Robinson

    Jorja Spahr

    Way to SWIM FAST!

A few items from the meet this past weekend also need to be addressed.

    * The boys bathroom was found to be in very bad shape (trash intentionally thrown about) multiple times during the meet this past weekend. Since there were no other teams here I can be pretty sure it was our swimmers or siblings. Please remind your swimmers/siblings to respect the facility (any facility) where we may be swimming.

    * If you are setting up around the baby pool please be sure to make sure your swimmers/siblings are NOT putting rocks into the baby pool. That is very destructive to our pools & they have to be fished out before any cleaning of the pool can be done.

    * Please remember that during the events parents are not to hang out beyond the sign OR behind the blocks (definitely behind the blocks). The only people behind the blocks are swimmers, timers, ready bench volunteers and officials. NO spectators should be behind the blocks.

    * Please remember to have your swimmer check out before they leave if they have to leave the meet early. If they are entered in additional events or relays we need to know this so we can scratch them from the events (let the officials know) and find substitutes for their relay.

    * Just as swimmers need to check out with a coach before they leave volunteers need to check out with the volunteer coordinator before they leave their shift if there is no one there to replace them. The volunteer coordinator will help find a replacement or the replacement who signed up for the 2nd shift.

    * Encourage your swimmers to be ready to start as soon as they walk up to the starting blocks. If the starter has said "Take your mark" and the swimmer has forgotten to put their goggles on & then moves to put their goggles on this could draw other swimmers off the blocks early. They need to be completely ready to take their mark & be still until the start.

    * Review those meet results as they are posted - either using the app or the posted results on the window of the computers room. It is MUCH easier to address any questions before we have finished & exported the meet. By Monday all changes are locked & I cannot get a change unless I run it by our League officials.

    * No TAPE is allowed at NWAL swim meets. Bandages (within reason - no open wounds please) are fine, but no KT or Athletic Tape to support joints or injuries.

    * If your swimmer has a disability that needs an accommodation during the swim meet please send me an email or come speak with me in person. We are happy to implement accommodations but we need to know they are needed and put a plan in place so that we can notify our officials in advance.

Here is a link to the NWAL Rule book again for anyone who would like a little "light reading". https://d1nmxxg9d5tdo.cloudfront.net/275/files/202...

LEE County Swim Meet is THIS Weekend!

Please be sure to get your swimmer signed up. Entries will close Thursday AM at 9am. Late entries are VERY difficult to get entered & will NOT be updated to the app or the existing heat sheets. It's better for everyone to get them entered before the deadline.

Relays: Please make sure you are appropriately marking your swimmer's availability for relays. IF you think your swimmer will need to leave early please mark them as "leaving early, no late relays".

This meet WILL BE AT ADAMSON LAGOON. Lee County is a traditionally small team & they usually come to us even if they are scheduled to host.

    Here is the schedule

    6:45am     Check In Begins

    7:15am     Tsunami Warm Ups

    7:45am     Lee County Warm Ups

8:15am     Pool is Cleared for Official Meetings

    8:25am     National Anthem

    8:30am     Event #1

Please try to arrive on time for check in. If everyone waits until 7:10am to check in we cannot get swimmers in the water on time. Also, please try to review the heat sheet when it is emailed out before the meet.

If you haven't downloaded the app yet, now is a great time to download the Swimtopia App & log in!

    TAAF RSVPs are OPEN

TAAF will be the season that begins when our NWAL season ends. There is an opportunity for the Region Meet and qualifiers can go to the State Meet in Corpus Christi at the end of July.

Our TAAF Region Meet will be July 9th in Bryan. We will NOT select events yet, but we DO need to let TAAF know which athletes will be attending. We will select events closer to the meet. So all we need to know is if your swimmer plans to swim in the Region meet on July 9th.

You can RSVP  for the Region TAAF meet on our website.

Lots of information today - our season is really getting rolling now! Please let me know if you have any questions. See you at the pool!
