Weekly Update (5/10/22)
Howdy Tsunami Families!
Time Trials
The meet went GREAT! I am sure many of you see why we do an actual swim meet to get those time trial times. It allows our new swimmers to see how a meet works & gives us all a chance to practice; from setting up, to volunteering, to officiating - ALL the things that are involved with a meet are practiced. So we know what to expect with the next meet.
I think I have all of the time trial times done outside of the official meet entered into the system. There were over 100 that had to be entered so please let me know if you find an error.
If your swimmer still needs to get their time trial times in order to enter a dual meet please email me. It's easiest if I can have a watch & timer sheet ready while the coaches are on deck.
Navasota Meet
Navasota has had to make the difficult decision to cancel their season. We will not be swimming against Navasota this weekend.
We WILL, however, be able to have an official meet. Swimmers will be able to set official times and any disqualifications will count. This is a great opportunity for our experienced swimmers to go ahead & set some times for Invitationals and a great opportunity for our newer swimmers to be able to set some qualifications for the Divisional meet.
I am working with NWAL to ensure our meet is formatted correctly & they should have that done by later tonight. I am hoping it does not reset entries, but if it does we will have a bit of leniency since I will not have to merge the meet with anyone else.
At this time entries are still due by NOON on Thursday May 12th!
Volunteering
Many of you saw last weekend what it's like when I don't have enough volunteers sign up in advance of the swim meet. On meet day I really don't have the ability to go searching for volunteers. One of the key volunteers that I need each meet is the Volunteer Coordinator. If you are able to sign up for this position please DO! If you have questions about this position let me know!
Meet Entries
One of the things we learn during time trials is exactly where people are struggling with meet entries. I've included some information in the Frequently Asked Questions page of our website.
Here are the basics for Meet Entries:
Q: How do I sign up for a Dual Meet?
~ Log in to www.collegestation.swimtopia.com
~ Select the Swim Meet from the Schedule. Click MEET ENTRY.
~ Click EDIT, then select "attending this meet"
~ Select up to 3 individual events for your swimmer to swim at that meet.
~ Indicate if your swimmer is available for Relays using the drop down box
~ SAVE
So get those meet entries done & volunteer jobs signed up for! I have both this weekend & the next weekend Meet Entries & Volunteer Jobs OPEN!
That's all (for today).
As always, if you have any questions please let me know!
See you at the pool!
Coach Michelle
