The Huntsville meet is THIS Saturday 5/11! Here's what you need to know!

HVL at COLS Saturday 5/1//19 at 8:30am at Adamson Lagoon in College Station

7am Check In

7:15am COLS warm ups

7:45am HVL warm ups

8:15am pool is cleared, timer meeting, scratch/coaches meeting

8:25am National Anthem

8:30am 1st Splash - Event 1

Tsunamis usually set up their tents around the baby pool. There are some tables & pavilions over there & also some area where you can set up some canopy tents as well. If we all set up together it will give our coaches & the ready bench a great starting point to find swimmers if they happen to be missing for a relay. 

You are welcome to bring snacks & a cooler, please remember the regular pool rules & no glass containers. Also, please remember to pick up after yourselves as the pool is already open on the weekends so our lifeguards will be trying to get ready for public swim as we are leaving. 

Heat Sheets will be available for $3 each and we are planning on having concessions open as well. 

If you haven't yet downloaded the Swimtopia app you should. We didn't have this app last year & there is still a long way to go with functionality on the app but it is handy to have. This app will show you what your swimmer is swimming at the current meet as well as any relays they may be assigned to. 

I know there are already two big questions: Weather? ...and what time will the meet be over?

Weather

Yes, I have seen the weather & we are supposed to continue on our current path through Saturday. But, Texas y'all. We really cannot put a ton of faith in that. If we followed that we would have cancelled the Time Trial meet because the weather last week also indicated it was supposed to be stormy on Saturday, but it was beautiful (thank goodness). 

If we do get to Saturday & the weather will not cooperate then we still follow our wait & see approach. If the weather is so bad we have to postpone the meet we are required to make it up BEFORE the next meet. 

Meet Finish Time

I will not know this until AFTER all entries are in, relays are run AND the meet has been Merged with the other team (HVL in this case). And even then the meet finish time is an ESTIMATE.

[Definition "Merge": we merge a meet to combine with the other team. All swimmers are heated & seeded by their entry times which we got a time trials. In merging the software assigns appropriate heats & lanes to swimmers from BOTH of the teams together. So our heat sheets will reflect all swimmers, not just the ones from our team.] We merge the meet on Thursday afternoons, this gives the home team time on Fridays to run copies of all the heat sheet, prep timer sheets and do all the other stuff that goes into getting ready for the meet on Saturday. This is also why we have to have all entries in by 11:59pm on the Wednesday before the meet. This gives us time to validate all the entries, run the relays and still have a bit of a buffer to fix anything if needed before we merge with the other team. 

Reminders: 

~ Have your swimmer registered for the meet & entries selected no later than 11:59pm TONIGHT!
