    Tsunami Update

    Howdy Tsunamis!

We had our first evening of Evaluations last night! Awesome job everyone! Big THANK YOU to our parents who stepped up to help out & keep us running as smoothly as possible! We processed more than 50 swimmer evaluations and 20 Time Trials! That is a lot!

You may have some questions though so I am going to use this to answer some of questions I have already been asked...

    * If you are new to Tsunamis this year AND you already know you will not be here for the Time Trial Meet May 4th you will go to Evaluations FIRST then head to the other side of the pool for Time Trials.

    * Evaluations will be on the end of the pool near the baby pool. Novice (Nervous) swimmers will be in the lane closest to the Lifeguards.

    * Time Trials will be on the end of the pool with the starting blocks. We will use the lanes closest to the lily pads for these. Please only go to Time Trials if you WILL NOT be here for the Time Trial Meet May4th AND if you have cleared Evaluations.

    * Events! Swimmers who are 10 & under swim the following; 50 Free, 25 Free, 25 Breast, 100 IM, 25 Back, 25 Fly. Swimmers who are 11 & over swim the following; 100 Free, 50 Free, 50 Breast, 100 IM, 50 Back, 50 Fly. These events are not required but please remember - IF your swimmer wants to swim these events in a dual meet later in the season we MUST have a time trial time for them BEFORE they can sign up for the event. We will make note of disqualifications for Time Trials but swimmers will not actually be disqualified - all times will count for this meet.

    * Q: What if my swimmer was not cleared at evaluations? If your swimmer was unable to complete 25 meters unassisted you may bring them back another evening this week to try again. Please remember this is a safety issue. Once practice starts we will have about 8+ swimmers per lane with the younger groups. It is not safe for a swimmer who cannot make the entire length of the pool unassisted nor is it safe for their fellow swimmers. We cannot risk having them grab another novice swimmer and should they need to have assistance from a lifeguard the lifeguard would have to try to avoid all the other swimmers when they go in. We do have a couple of coaches who have some time to help them if you are interested as well. Please send me an email if you would like more information on this.

    * Do you have a question about IF your swimmer cleared evaluations? There really weren't very many & I think we spoke with everyone, but if you still have a question about if your swimmer is eligible for the team please drop me an email at [email protected] & I will be happy to help!

As of this morning we have almost 150 Swimmers signed up for Tsunamis! This is HUGE! If you have not gotten signed up yet you may want to get that done as soon as you can. When we hit 200 swimmers we will need to institute a wait list to make sure we have adequate coaching staff. We currently anticipate being able to serve everyone who would like to swim but again, the sooner you sign up the better so we can make sure we are staffed up in time!

    * Time Trials is May 4th*

If you plan on attending the Time Trials meet on May 4th sign ups are OPEN! Please go ahead & sign up your swimmer. Enter them in ALL the events and sign yourself up for open Volunteer positions. It is extremely important to get into the habit of registering & entering events for each swim meet. These will always be due no later than the Thursday morning prior to each meet. Meet Entries for Time Trials are Due 5/2 by NOON!
