    Time Trials

    Howdy Tsunamis!

    I am getting a lot of questions about Time Trials & I know that if one person has a question then others probably do as well. I just wanted to send another email hoping to answer as many questions as possible.

    The most common question: My swimmer is new & doesn't know any of the strokes. Do they have/need to participate in the Time Trial meet?

    * IF your swimmer wants to swim in ANY of the dual meets this season they MUST have a time IN THE EVENT THEY WANT TO SWIM to be able to participate. We aren't going to make a swimmer participate in an event they do not want to, but we do encourage them to TRY each of the events. If your swimmer doesn't know the stroke - we will teach them. If your swimmer isn't legal in the stroke - there are NO disqualifications at time trials. If they do not do a time trial this week/weekend and decide at a later time that they would like to enter a Dual meet we will need to get a time trial time for them BEFORE they than enter into an event.

    Which events do I sign my swimmer up for at Time Trials?

    * In a Dual meet swimmers are restricted to a max of 3 individual events and 2 relays. At Time Trials we are encouraging all swimmers to participate in all individual events they are willing to. Remember, in order to swim an event at a Dual Meet your swimmer must have a Time Trial time in order to enter the event at a Dual Meet.

    How and when do I enter my swimmer into swim meets?

    * Use our website:

    https://collegestation.swimtopia.com/

    You will need to log in. Then you will see the events & meets listed at the RIGHT side of the page. Please click on the Time Trials meet and begin the process of signing up your swimmer as well as volunteering for jobs. If you have not logged into the website yet (or in a while) please do so, and let me know ASAP if you are having any problems.

    Usually we close the sign-ups for a meet on WEDNESDAYS no later than 6pm! This meet is a little different as we do not have to coordinate with another team. NWAL rules state that our meet entries must be exchanged no later than 6pm on Thursdays prior to the meet. The entries are currently still open for Time Trials but will close this evening. Please ONLY sign up swimmers who will be here Saturday morning & do so ASAP.

    Are there Relays at Time Trials?

    * Nope

    What time will the meet start/end?

    * We are planning on being ready to check-in at 7:15am, start warm-ups at 7:30am and start the meet at 8am. We will not know the official end time until we have processed all of the meet entries. We are all hoping to be done by noon.

    My swimmer is unable to attend Time Trials on Saturday. What do I do?

    * Email me. We will need to get Time Trial times at another time - probably during practice. If you have seen the Coaches getting Times during practice this week then you know this is a time consuming process as we can only do one at a time. So let me know soon so that we can get the process started.

    Additional Information:

    * Meet Set-Up: At home swim meets parents/families/swimmers usually set up around the baby pool at Adamson Lagoon. There is some cover over there & many will bring canopy tents as well. NO personal canopy tents can be set up on the deck though. There is limited seating in the bleachers at the end of the pool, but the area with the picnic tables in front of the mural will be reserved for athletes preparing to swim and meet personnel/coaches/volunteers.

    * Suits: We are still waiting for the additional team suits to arrive. If you still need to purchase your team suit please stop by the coaching/instruction office during practice and an Aquatics Manager should be able to help you with sizing & ordering.

    I do know that the start of the season is very overwhelming. Everything starts so quickly and it may not seem like there is enough time to get it figured out before we start having meets. I am here to answer your questions and help you navigate these waters! Practice time is NOT the best time for me to do this though. You can email me & I am happy to make an appointment to answer your questions & explain everything I am able to.

    Your athletes are amazing & they are going to make this an awesome season!

    As always ~ Swim Fast Tsunamis! See you all at the pool!
